Accommodation in Brighton - Where to stay during workshops?
Most workshops are held at the Dance Station in Portslade. I recommend all students to get accommodation in Brighton as opposed to Portslade. It's only 10-15 minutes traveling on the bus (and there are loads of buses going there every few minutes). There is not much to do in Portslade, but Brighton is very vibrant. If you prefer to book in Portslade, there is one place (The Blue Lagoon) I can recommend that is very close to the Dance Station, which will be mentioned below. Budget
The Christopher's Inn Hostel - Brighton

Prices range from £ 16/night (8 bed dorm) to £ 30/night (private ensuite). The location is lovely, as it's on the seafront in the centre of Brighton. I have never stayed there myself, but I have heard good things about it. The negative element is that there are a lot of young travelers there that sometimes play loud music, so I suggest to bring earplugs :). There is internet access, and linen (bring your own towels), and there is breakfast included in the morning. For more info on bookings, visit www.st-christophers.co.uk
Journeys hostel - Brighton

Prices range from £ 22.50 - £ 30/night depending on the type of bed you book. Good location, clean rooms,... There is free WIFI, free continental breakfast and free linen (bring your own towels). I have been here to check out the rooms, the rooms are quite small but rooms are clean. For more info and bookings, visit www.visitjourneys.com
Mid range
The Court Craven Hotel - Brighton
In the heart of Kemptown you will find the Court Craven Hotel. It's really good location for shops and restaurants and close to the beach, and there is a busstop nearby that takes you all the way to Portslade. Rooms range from £ 35 (single room) upwards.
The Blue Lagoon - Portslade (5min walking from the Dance Station)

Right around the corner from the Dance Station in Portslade, the Blue Lagoon is a bed and breakfast right at the seafront. There are no prices quoted on the site, but when I called to ask for a quote (February 2010) they quoted about £ 55 for a room. Prices always depend on number of bookings and period during the year, so these will vary.
The Pelirocco Hotel
One of Brighton's most fun hotels is the
Pelirocco hotel. They have a number of
different rooms, each with its own theme. Prices depend on which room you stay
in, ranging from £ 55 to £ 250/night for the most extravagant one. They have a
Soul Room with vintage LP's for you to play, a Mohammed Ali themed room, a
Boudoir, an 80's clubber room,... all decorated by local visual artists with
loads of creative touches.
Top end
The Queens Hotel - Brighton
Opposite Brighton Pier,
The Queens Hotel has an excellent location. Beautiful
rooms, spa and leisure centre, bar and restaurant, ... They often do really good
deals if you book plenty of time in advance (50% off) so it's definitely worth
checking it out. If you are lucky you can get a double or twin room for £ 75 per
night.
